Bundle of Tow

Tow is the intermediate stage between flax plant and linen cloth. It has two primary used: first, it has exactly the right combination of strength and coarseness for cleaning out your musket (used with a Tow Worm), and second, it is very good at catching and holding a spark when you are fire starting, especially with flint and steel. we also find that traditional dollmakers love to use it for hair! This actually makes sense, since this is where the expression "towheaded" (referring to blond haired people, typically children) came from.
