This small (6"/15cm) but very effective version of a ratchet noisemaker is a miniature version of the ones used during World War 1 to raise the alarm for a gas attack. Its history dates back much farther than that, however -- toy versions such as these are documented as favourites of children as early as the 1710s. Made of wood, these toys are typically stiff upon first use, but with a little breaking in can easily be used by the four year old and upwards crowd. Handy carry bag included.
