After disappearing for three years, the bustle reappeared in 1883. Between 1884 and 1887 the Victorian bustle reached its greatest proportions. A little lower than the 1870s bustle, it projected out and at such an angle that detractors claimed that a tea tray could rest upon it. Still, it was critical to make fashionable dresses hang properly. There are options for a full-length bustle and for the shorter bustles common in the last years of this period. It features removable steels and an optional detachable flounce. This pattern includes 4 pages of instructions with historical tips, and 2 pattern sheets. This is a one-size-fits-all pattern, with a sized waist band.
